I've always been curious about how the human body works, especially how we communicate with the world around us. This curiosity led me to dive deep into Audiology, earning a Master's degree (Gold Medal!) from the University of Mysore in India. My fascination with how our senses and brain are connected took me to Macquarie University in Australia, where I completed my PhD in Audiology and Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience. After that, I decided to take my passion for improving health and sensory experiences into the medical device world. For the past 8 years, I’ve been blending my clinical expertise with a strong strategic vision to develop, validate, and launch innovative medical devices in the healthcare industry.

At Earlens, I had the chance to lead product development in a fast-paced startup environment, guiding 14 commercial product launches (both hardware and software) and 26 product updates. I helped define everything from product strategy to roadmaps, working closely with industry experts and ensuring each launch aligned with ever-changing business goals. I also took on the role of product evangelist, creating training materials and leading demos and presentations for teams, customers, and stakeholders.

Along the way, I’ve led over 30 clinical research studies, testing everything from product efficacy to user experience (UX/UI) for hardware, software, and firmware updates. This includes everything from early feasibility studies to clinical trials, FDA 510k approvals, and multi-site testing. I’ve had the privilege of publishing and presenting my work at international conferences and journals. I’ve also been a finalist for both the President’s Award and the People’s Choice Award at Earlens for my leadership and performance.

I’m always up for new challenges, and I’m currently looking for my next product management role where I can bring my unique blend of clinical expertise, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving to the table.

More about me

I graduated summa cum laude from Mysore University and received "Aarthi Venkatraman Gold medal for first rank in Audiology". My Master’s thesis investigated auditory plasticity using behavioral and electrophysiological measures in new hearing aid users. After my graduation, I worked on a research project with Dr. Jayakumar and Dr. Vijaya Kumar Narne (AIISH, Mysore). The project involved comparing behavioral and electrophysiological indices of place of articulation and VOT discrimination in Kannada and Hindi speakers. I developed the first ten step place of articulation (/p/ to /t/) and VOT (/d/ to /t/) for Indian languages using MATLAB.

I received the Australia Development Scholarship and Australia Leadership Award (highly competitive-awarded to only 200 people annually worldwide) in 2012 to pursue higher education. I joined Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia as a PhD candidate in 2013. My PhD investigated how we learn to recognize patterns from auditory and visual stimuli (statistical learning) and if this ability is influenced by music expertise. Using both behavioral and electrophysiological measures, this PhD was the first to compare statistical learning in two modalities (auditory and visual) between individuals with and without musical training. Additionally, event related potentials (ERPs) were used to investigate electrophysiological correlates of statistical learning.

Apart from my research, I have also supervised and mentored 8 Masters and 1 Honors research students for their research thesis including project development, implementation, management, advising on project presentations, and thesis editing.  I was also the lab manager of the EEG Lab at Macquarie Speech and Hearing Clinic (2013-2016). My responsibilities included helping in designing/troubleshooting ERP/EEG experiments, calibrating stimuli, maintaining the lab, conducting training session for new users. I have also taught lecturers and tutorials for MClinAud and Psychology courses (Basics of Auditory perception, electrophysiology). I was part of a collaborative project with National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL),  that aimed to develop an automatic ABR audiometer.

Beyond my work, I’m a 200-hour certified yoga teacher, a cooking enthusiast, and an amateur artist with a love for both Western and Indian classical music.
